Watch Carabao Cup goals NOW!

CHEERY-BYE

Well we didn’t get the giant killings we had our hearts set on tonight but blimey we got a few goals, and some decent ones too. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was a contender for the best of them with his opener against Sunderland, although Marcus Rashford might have a thing or two to say about that after his stunner against Burton.

Everton, United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea all make it though, much as we expected they would. The Carabao Cup takes a break now until the week beginning October 23rd so it’s all eyes on the Premier League till then (or EFL if you’re Sunderland, Burton, Doncaster or Forest).

Thanks for joining! Ta’ra for now.

EVERTON 3-0 SUNDERLAND

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas: “They very much needed that win. Calvert-Lewin has answered a few questions tonight to get two goals, and should have got a hat-trick, but only bad luck as he hit the post.

“They were very short of confidence early doors, but Calvert-Lewin swept home the opener, rather than blasting it. His second was a lovely finish, with a bit of pace and elevation.

“Everton finished with a bit of energy and pace.”

ARSENAL 1-0 DONCASTER

Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson: “I was pleased with performance. There are if, buts and maybes as we created chances. It’s a slight disappointment we didn’t convert one of our chances but I cannot criticise the players.

“The open game suited us. We hope hope the performance will kick start season in terms of results.”

WEST BROM 1-2 MAN CITY

Sky Sports pundit Alan McInally: “Ben Foster made three magnificent saves. But they had really good chances West Brom.

“They had good attacking options with Phillips and Rondon. City deserve to be in the next round but West Brom gave it a really good go.”

ARSENAL 1-0 DONCASTER

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: “I was pleased with the start. We got the goal but faded away. It was frustrating we couldn’t get a second goal, it always made it worrying that they could score. I was a little surprised it was such an open game.”
